Elliott Bennett Hands In Transfer Request
With the window closing at 11pm on Monday night, Bennett seems like he wants to push through a deal that will take him to Championship high flyers, Norwich City.
Tony Bloom has already turned down three offers from The Canaries, the latest said to be £1million. Bloom would want a lot more money, and reports suggest Norwich will splash out £1.5million to get their man.
Eddie Howe, the Burnley manager is also interested in the winger, and is set to start a bidding war with The Canaries.
Bennett was bought from Wolves by Russell Slade for £250,000, with Wolves adding a 25% sell on clause in that deal. If a deal went through for £1.5 million, that would see The Seagulls make a tidy £1million profit over two years.
With estimated rewards of promotion to The Championship set at £4million, a £1million short term profit doesn't seem beneficial to Brighton, especially with Brighton scoring 52 goals this season, with Bennett scoring 4 of them and setting up a further 21.
Without Bennett, The Seagulls will be a less potent force, although Poyet has already signed Craig Noone from Plymouth and taken Emmanuel Ledesma on trail after he was released by QPR.
The lure of a chance of Premier League football next season, and a massive wage increase look to have turned Bennett's head, despite signing a new 3-year deal earlier this season.
