Brighton's season ended, basically on a par with the season as a whole, with a rather uneventful game that ended in a draw at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The nil-nil draw at the Riverside Stadium means that we'll finish the season, which uneventful or not we'll be glad to see the back of, in 20th position in the Championship with us very keen to see improvement next season. Middlesbrough on the other hand dropped to fourth meaning they'll play-off with Brentford, who made it into the top six on the final day at the expense of our conquerors Derby 12-months ago....

Having been on a run of six successive wins at home Middlesbrough would have fancied their chances to end on a high but we should have broken through with Greer and Dunk both missing chances to put us ahead, they'll both know they should have done better from Stephens' deliveries from deadballs.

The home side also had a very presentable chance before the break when Aston Villa loanee Bennett, who could have been playing his last game in a Brighton shirt, lost the ball to Amorebieta with his eventually cutback to Kike seeing his miss-control and the chance was lost.

Our best chance of all fell to O'Grady, and although he's improved this miss summed up his season really, who was given a chance when Halford, another who could have been playing his last game for us, picked him out but his effort was wasteful.

Kike could have punished this miss late on but he too couldn't hit the target as the game ended in typical end of season fashion, we'll now look ahead to another summer of rebuilding with Chris Hughton charged with a promotion push next season....
