Brighton 0 Norwich 1 (Report)

0 - 1

Amex Stadium

03/04/15; 3pm

Attendance: 28,890

Brighton paid the price for not being 'clinical enough' in front of goal as Chris Hughton's first meeting with former club Norwich ended in defeat on Good Friday when they went away from the Amex Stadium with all three-points after a one-nil win.

This win, which had lifted Norwich up to third at the time, makes the race for the Championship title - let alone promotion - remarkably tight as only three-points separate the top four, with Norwich two-points off new leaders Middlesbrough.

We should be safe enough this season, even with Millwall winning, but a failure to take the chances that we had is what cost us in the end and allowed the visitors to build on a run of just one defeat in their previous 12-matches....

Stockdale kept us in the game early on when he saved well to keep out Johnson and Hoolahan but after this we came into the game and should have taken the lead through Liverpool loanee Teixeira, who profited on Bassong's mistake, but he couldn't hit the target with a poor finish.

The second half saw good chances fall to, reported Premier League target for several clubs, Ince as well as O'Grady, who is starting to show he's got something about him. Teixeira also have another chance, which wasn't taken.

Missing those chances saw us punished when Redmond came off the bench to make an almost instant impact as he got away from Aston Villa loanee Bennett to tee up Johnson (62) with the midfielder continuing his goalscoring form just past the hour to put Norwich ahead.

The pressure was put on Norwich after this goal but still we couldn't find the breakthrough, the most disappointing thing really being that former England 'keeper Ruddy wasn't really called into action at many, if any, point of the game....
