Sami Hyypia led us to our first Championship win under his management in midweek and he was looking for us to secure another three points, a first at the Amex, on Saturday.
Brighton had to come from behind to win 2-1 against Bolton but the signs are that Hyypia is starting to stamp his mark on his side continued as we made it successive wins.
It started well for us, with us giving Aston Villa loan signing Joe Bennett a debut, with Bruno an early chance to give us the lead but he finished poorly with Jake Forster-Caskey also having a chance.
Bolton started to put on some pressure and we survived a couple of worrying moments before, including a header over by David Wheater from a corner but another did see Matt Mills given too much time and space in the penalty area to power home a header to give a struggling Bolton side a first half lead.
Craig Mackail-Smith grabbed a first goal since his return to help us progress in the League Cup and he almost had his first Championship goal since his injury return but Adam Bogdan produced a good save.
The striker showed he isn't just a 'fox in the box' six yard poacher as a clever step over gave him a chance from the edge of the area but his curling effort, that was destined for the top corner, was well tipped onto the bar by Bogdan.
A first goal since New Years Day 2013 would come for CMS though.
Inigo Calderon's dangerous low cross into the far post was slid in by Mackail-Smith to bring us level, which we deserved. Bolton lost the services of goalkeeper Bogdan in the goal after he was injured colliding with a defender.
Bolton's sub goalkeeper was Andy Lonergan and he was almost beaten quickly as he misjudged the flight of a corner but Lewis Dunk saw his header cleared off the line by the covering Jay Spearing.
Lonergan recovered well though to save from Andrew Crofts as he followed up.
David Stockdale was the only man left for Craig Davies to beat shortly after half time but fortunately for us his finish was poor with CMS in the mood for more goals, trying the acrobatic but his overhead kick went wide.
A win was something that we deserved and this winner did come in the second half as one of the Hyypia signings continued to impress.
Liverpool winger Joao Carlos Teixeira is looking a very good loan signing and if his early form is carried through the contacts with Hyypia's former side have paid off. He worked himself an opening to fire through Lonergan's leg.
The effort maybe should have been saved, but we'll not care.
Kaz LuaLua again came off the bench to have an impact, most tellingly when he put in CMS but this time the striker wasn't able to beat Lonergan to seal the win with only the Bolton goalkeeper to beat but it didn't mater in the end.
It's two wins in a row now and momentum is slowly building now to add a couple of players to the squad before the transfer window closes to keep this rolling.
