Blackburn 3 Brighton 3 (Report)

Brighton battled back, more than one, to earn a draw at Blackburn on Tuesday but it was a point that did little to help our play off hopes but a 3-3 draw was better than defeat of course.

An early chance from Keith Andrews, formerly of Blackburn, was close to giving Albion the lead with Matt Upson doing well to get a block in to keep Jordan Rhodes from opening the scoring.

The lead came Albion's way though when David Rodriguez scored his first goal since arriving earlier in the year. A long ball was flicked on with Jesse Lingard playing in the Spanish striker who beat Paul Robinson at his near post.

We weren't ahead for long though with Blackburn soon level.

It all started with Rohan Ince giving the ball away cheaply with a freekick eventually coming that Tom Cairney had an effort with that was diverted in by Jordan Rhodes to draw the home side level.

Rhodes headed wide with Tomasz Kuszczak saving from David Dunn but Blackburn forced themselves ahead before half time.

Tommy Spurr got forward well from the back with his cross from the left turned home by Cairney to give Blackburn the lead that the dominance they were showing deserved really.

A lead was almost extended further when Bruno tried his best to turn a cross into his own net, fortunately he hit his own bar with Kuszczak making a great save from Craig Conway to keep Albion in the game.

Robinson then matched his opposite number by producing a save to prevent us levelling.

Having turned to him from the bench Solly March almost did exactly what Oscar would have wanted but his deflected shot needed a readjustment from Robinson to keep us from equalising.

The equaliser wasn't far behind though when Gordon Greer scored his first goal of the season to get us level from a corner.

Once again we fell behind though, this time it seemed a terminal blow when Rhodes coolly converted a penalty that was awarded for a foul on him sending Kuszczak the wrong way with six minutes to play.

A point was earned two minutes from time though.

Lingard assisted another goal, crossing for Dale Stephens to glance home a header and save the game with us going home with a point that keeps the play off hopes alive but as said before the game a point probably isn't going to be enough in the long run?

It's definitely better than none though but with Reading having the better goal difference they will need to slip up more than once with us winning every game we have left to make the top six.
