Albion produced a second half come back to salvage a deserved point against fellow promotion hopefuls Millwall.
Ex-Albion loanee Chris Wood had handed the visitors a 2-0 lead courtesy of a superbly taken double, before substitute Kazenga LuaLua and David Lopez helped Albion pull off a dramatic turnaround, much to the relief of the bulk of the 25,000 crowd.
Unlike in recent games, the visitors were out of the blocks quickest, as Poyet's men looked instantly unsettled at the back - strikes from Josh Wright and Shane Lowry charged down by Adam El-Abd and Lewis Dunk. It didn't take long for the Lions to find their opener, however, and there was an inevitability about the scorer.
Adam Smith found space to cross from the left wing, and it was Wood who nipped in ahead of Dunk to place a guided effort into the far corner past Tomasz Kuszczak and put Jackett's men in-front. Gordon Greer then came within inches of equalising down the other end - his header from Lopez' free-kick looping onto the stanchion.
With the Seagulls' system proving fairly fruitless against a robust and well-drilled Millwall side, Poyet acted quickly to bring on LuaLua in place of Dunk before half-time. It nearly paid immediate dividends as LuaLua skipped past his man to drill in a low cross from the left, but Craig Mackail-Smith was somehow unable to convert from 3 yards out - although the offside flag was eventually raised.
Poyet's men came out fired up after the interval, and again they struck the woodwork, when David Lopez - filling in at right-wing back - was desperately unlucky to see his curling free-kick clip the post. However, the hosts were then hit by a sucker-punch, as a familiar foe appeared to kill their building momentum.
Wood dispossessed Mackail-Smith towards the corner of the Albion penalty area, and unleashed a dipping left-footed strike that flew past Kuszczak and in off the underside of the bar. The Seagulls hit back straight away though, responding with another effort from distance that left the keeper with little chance..
Will Buckley fed LuaLua 30 yards out, and the Congolese winger created space for himself before firing a fierce but well-placed drive into the far corner of David Forde's net. LuaLua nearly grabbed a second from further out but the ever-threatening wideman couldn't keep his effort on target.
With the Seagulls desperately searching for the leveller, it looked like it had arrived when Dean Hammond rose to head to ball towards goal - Adam El-Abd tried to prod the ball over, but Lowry was on hand to clear the ball off the line and preserve their narrow lead.
They finally caved under the pressure, however, as Jack Smith brought down Mackail-Smith in the box - Lopez stepped up to place the ball calmy into the top right hand corner to earn Albion a share of the spoils in this eventful encounter.
