Instant Reactions - Tottenham v Brighton (13/12/17)
Following today's clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton, here are the instant reactions from both managers.
Tottenham Hotspur hosted Brighton for an 8pm kick off on Wednesday December 13, with the hosts taking a two nil victory following goals by Serge Aurier and Son Heung-min.
Brighton proved a stubborn opposition for Mauricio Pochettino's side and although Chris Hughton will be disappointed with the scoreline, he will have positives to take from the game as there was certainly an element of luck in Tottenham's opener - albeit they did dominate possession and have the greater chances.
The result sees Spurs move back into the top four in the Premier League and Brighton slip to 13th in the table as their search for a first win in six failed.
Lloris, Aurier, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose, Sissoko, Winks (Dembele 67), Lamela (Alli 74), Eriksen, Son Heung-min (Davies 90), Kane.
Trippier, Vorm, Llorente, Foyth.
Ryan, Schelotto, Duffy, Dunk, Bong, Propper, Stephens, Knockaert, Kayal (Gross 78), Izquierdo Mena (March 62), Hemed (Murray 72).
Bruno, Goldson, Krul, Brown.
Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Robert Madley blew the final whistle, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino explained.
'I think it's fantastic for us, three victories in a row - so important for us. I'm happy with the performance. I think he (Aurier) tried to put the ball in there and I think it's fantastic, sometimes you need some luck to score. The team deserved it, we dominated the game. We deserved to go to half time winning the game, the win was important to believe and fight for the Premier League. We created a lot of chances, it's not easy to play when the opponent play in that formation to try only to stop you to play.'
Brighton manager Chris Hughton in his comparitive interview explained.
'We were always going to be up against it here, with the quality they've got. We went behind to a very fortuitous goal and then we had really good periods in the second half. When you're a side like us the chances are going to be minimal, you've got to defend well and I thought for large parts of the game we did that. We've gone down to a poor goal from our point of view. What the lad will say, whether he meant it or not? From our side it looks like a cross that's gone in at the far post.'
