Murray & Knockaert Delighted With Brighton Progress

Glenn Murray and Anthony Knockaert have both been speaking about their delight at where Brighton find themselves as we go into the November international break.

With manager Chris Hughton already saying that the side were exceeding his own expectations at this stage of the season following our victory over Swansea City lifting us into eighth in the Premier League table, Murray was equally delighted as he spoke to the Official Site.

'We`ve done very well and got more points than what people thought we would`ve done. The positive thing is we`ve done it by learning a lot about the league. A lot of the squad were new to the Premier League, and it`s a slightly different way of football to the Championship. It`s seven points from the last three games and we`ve got a nice break now until the 20th. We`ve got two weeks to prepare for Stoke and get ready to welcome them down to the Amex and try to get three more points on the board.'

With Murray finding the winner against Swansea, he went on to say.

'I just drifted in off the back of Fernandez and to be honest I thought he was going to win the ball. He pulled out at the last minute and caught me off guard. I managed sort my knees out and somehow it went in. It`s always nice when these things happen. They`re little bonuses and it`s nice to score goals, because it`s my job and I enjoy doing it.'

As for Knockaert, the Frenchman was quick to pass praise to the manager for our start to life in the top flight.

'West Ham and Swansea away, it`s never easy to win at these places, but we`re lucky enough to have a great manager and he knows what to do to win football games. We put everything he says into the games. It`s working for us at the moment, and it`s really important for our confidence that we haven`t lost in four games. First and foremost, it`s obviously important to keep clean sheets, it gives you a better chance of winning the game and taking three points. The last two games away from home, we`ve had two great performances and showed a lot of character.'

With Knockaert again helping himself to an assist for Brighton on the day, it was his first assist of the season and he was glad to be off the mark.

'I feel really good and confident. I think I`m getting better and better. I`m buzzing to get the assist, that`s my goal and job, to do that for the team. We know what Glenn is all about, he`s a great goalscorer and he`s always there at the right moments. It`s important to have a striker like him, a target man that`s always in the box when you deliver crosses. It was an important goal at the right moment, so I`m delighted with the assist and it was a great three points for us.'
