Izquierdo Better For Being At Brighton

Izquierdo Better For Being At Brighton

Summer signing, winger Jose Izquierdo, has said that his overall game has already shown signs of improvement since he's been at Brighton.

Speaking to the Official Site the Colombian international spoke of a much higher standard in training compared to what he had been used to and in adjusting to that, he knew he was closer to claiming a regular spot in the starting line up.

'The players are powerful in training and it`s harder than Belgium because this is a top league and there is more intensity here. I feel happy to be here and to have this opportunity to play in a top league with top players because you learn more. Before I came to England, I didn`t used to help with the defensive side of the game, but this is something you need to do here. As a winger, you go forward and also track back to defend.'

He went on to say.

'In the squad there are players that have been here for two or more years who know what the club is about, and they were part of the team that won promotion. They were here through all of pre-season and have been playing well, but my opportunity will come.'

Turning his attentions to Arsenal on Sunday, he went on to say.

'When you`re playing the likes Arsenal and Manchester City, you know they are teams with top players. It gives you the motivation to keep working and to show your abilities. I try to be loud and happy all the time, because playing football is the most beautiful thing I can do in my life. My personality involves always being funny and making jokes; some people may think it`s strange, but that`s Jose Izquierdo!'

He ended by saying.

'It`s different on the pitch, because I am more serious, but still enjoy it at the same time. If you enjoy your football, you play better, but I also follow the rules of the team. I like to win, make goals and work hard. It`s still a game and you have to enjoy, because you play better.'
