Walton Signs New Brighton Deal

Walton Signs New Brighton Deal

Young and highly rated goalkeeper Christian Walton has today put pen to paper on a new four year deal with Brighton.

The 21 year old joined the club back in 2013 from home town club Plymouth Argyle and he's gone on to make four appearances for us since then. His time with us has also seen successful loan spells out with Bury, Plymouth, Luton Town and most recently Southend United and he now has over 50 senior appearances to his name.

In recognition of his continued development we have today secured him to a long term future and a very happy Chris Hughton told the Official Site.

'We are delighted Christian has committed long term to the club, as he has a very bright future ahead. He had two very good loan spells with Luton Town and Southend United last season, which really benefited his ongoing development.'

He went on to add.

'Christian will go out on loan again this season, as he is at a stage in his career where he needs to be playing regular football to continue the excellent progress he has made.'

Walton has also represented England at Under 19, Under 20 and Under 21 levels.

Definitely League One level again for a loan spell this season but even maybe a half loan out and then an attempt at Championship level to bring him on a touch further?
