Premier League Promotion Open-Top Bus Tour

Premier League Promotion Open-Top Bus Tour

Brighton have confirmed that an open-top bus tour through the city will take place next month to celebrate the return to the topflight - a first involvement in the Premier League as it of course is now, it was the old First Division 34 years ago.

The players, manager and staff will be in the parade on 14th May with a civic reception to follow.

A delighted council leader Warren Morgan confirmed this bus tour commenting on how much this promotion means to him personally and the city of Brighton, after so much hard work and effort and battles against, well, extinction really.

Councillor Morgan told the BBC: 'I'm elated and relieved. We are finally there. It's been a long road since relegation from the top flight in '83, and a hard one since the end of the Goldstone era twenty years ago. We wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for Dick Knight, Martin Perry, Tony Bloom and all the fans who fought to keep the Albion alive and into our new home at Falmer. Thank you.'

Adding: 'Speaking as council leader, promotion to the Premier League could mean an economic boost for the city running into the hundreds of millions, and puts Brighton & Hove on the sporting map globally. But as a lifelong fan, all that matters to me is that we are going up. Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Man United and Palace; we're on our way. And we've got Anthony Knockaert.'

This promotion, 34 years on from the relegation season that also saw Brighton make the FA Cup final, could yet be secured with the championship won too - a fair few would now say Albion WILL go up as champions.
