Albion Bring In O'Grady

Brighton have completed the signing of Chris O'Grady from Barnsley, with his arrival announced on Friday evening.

His signing for an undisclosed fee was one that Sami Hyypia has spoken glowingly about on the official website with him having all the attributes that he said he was looking for and offers us something different to what we have and yet will get.

'This is an area we want to strengthen and Chris is a good start. He is a strong, physical presence and gives us something different to the other strikers we already have here at the club.

'You need that option in the squad of a forward with power and strength, and Chris can give us that - as well as scoring goals. We still want some extra attacking additions, and in other areas of the team, but I'm pleased we have another one of our targets.'

The 28 year old hasn't always necessarily been overly prolific over the years but is a definite physical presence and has contributed a fair amount of goals in a struggling Barnsley side over the past 18 months or so and I might have been a little unfair with thoughts shared earlier this week.

He's also vastly experienced, not only at Championship level.

Selling Leo Ulloa for over 8m (for a fee of up to 10m in the end perhaps) and bringing in someone for a fraction of this amount doesn't mean that he isn't going to deliver does it with the combination he can work with the other forwards and what he can add to the squad being of most importance with, as Hyypia said, this a good a good start.

O'Grady has come to Albion on a three year contract.
