Hyypia Pleased With Lewes Attitude

New manager Sami Hyypia kicked off game life at Brighton by overseeing a five nil victory over Lewes the other day, and he couldn't have been more pleased with the attitude of the players.

Speaking to the Official Site after seeing goals from Inigo Calderon, Kazenga LuaLua, Craig Mackail-Smith and Shamir Fenelon, Hyypia couldn't have been more delighted to get a winning start in his first game and he was pleased to see some of the training gronud ideas coming off on the pitch for us.

'For a first game of pre season, it was very good and we scored a few goals. It was great to come here locally and to see so many people have an interest in the game. We wanted to put into practise things we were working on in training, I saw that. I was very pleased with the attitude of the squad. It's not always easy to concentrate and have the right attitude for these games, but we kept the tempo all through the match and that was one of our targets.'

We did have a number of U21 players in the squad for the friendly, but a few seniors certainly stood out and the gaffer credited the strike from distance from LuaLua saying he's hoping to see him have cracks from that sort of distance in the future because he knows he's capable of finishing them, and of course with Mackail-Smith and his injury troubles, the manager was also pleased to see him get on the score sheet quickly as well.

Following the game and our trip next week to Spain, the gaffer also said he was hoping to wrap up a few additions shortly.
