Hyypia Appoints Backroom Boys

Hyypia Appoints Backroom Boys

New manager Sami Hyypia has appointed his backroom staff today.

Joining him and first team coach Nathan Jones, is Sammy Lee as assistant manager, and Antti Niemi as goalkeeping coach. We have also appointed strength and conditioning coach Thomas Barnden to the staff, and he has been promoted from his role in our Academy.

All three will take up their position next Monday at our new training facility and will work with the squad for the first time.

Speaking to the Official Site our gaffer explained.

'I'm delighted Sammy and Antti have accepted our offer, and I'm very pleased to welcome them to the club. Together with Nathan and Tom, they will form our first team coaching group. I know Sammy and Antti well, having been at Liverpool when Sammy was assistant manager, and I played alongside Antti for the Finnish national team. They are two great characters and will bring a great deal to the club, and the players, and to me personally as manager.'

Hyypia goes on to say that their coaching credentials will contribute Nathan's abilities and Tom's experience and knowledge of physical preparation, and he can't wait now to get going with all of them as we forge towards the new season in our preparations.
