Hyypia Topped High Calibre Applicants
Brighton's managerial search led to links with plenty of different options, these were only ever reports really so we'll not be too certain as to who seriously was under consideration will we?
What we do know is that Sami Hyypia has spoken very highly about the club, which he's right about as we're geared up for success with a great set up in place that's just waiting for someone to be able to take us to the next level, with both Gus Poyet and Oscar falling just short of doing that.
Time was carefully taken to ensure that the right man came in and both chief executive Paul Barber and chairman Tony Bloom left no stone unturned with it not just the interview processes themselves that saw Hyypia stand above the rest.
Barber has told the Argus that he was pleased with how private we were able to keep our moves for a new manager with him praising Broom's 'incredible diligence' during the process with the extra time being taken to ensure that opinions of others in the game could be sought too to build up 'extensive profiles' of each candidate.
Having done so Hyypia 'came out on top' and remains a manager that I'm looking forward to seeing in charge at the Amex next season, he's got a good footballing brain, has plenty of experience and his contacts in the game should help us.
We'll have periods were things don't go quite so well next season, and the seasons that follow, but I'm sure Hyypia will do a good job and think he'll be the man to finally take us to the Premier League.
