United's Lingard Joins Albion On Loan

United's Lingard Joins Albion On Loan

Brighton made an exciting loan signing on Thursday when promising Man United striker Jesse Lingard came to the Amex on loan until the end of the season.

His talent has already been witnessed at Championship level from a previous loan with Birmingham this season, where he was highly successful with Albion head coach Oscar confirming to the official website that plenty of interest was shown in the 21 year old.

Albion managed to beat off that interest to land the talent with the England U21 international joining us on loan until the end of the season, in a deal that would cover the play offs too, with Oscar looking forward to working with him and appreciating the fact that Man United have allowed us to borrow him.

'We worked hard to secure a talent who has already shown he can play at Championship level, and I am very pleased to have added Jesse to our striking options for the rest of the season.

'He has an excellent pedigree, having come through the academy at Old Trafford, and there is no doubt that he has a lot of talent and ability; I am really looking forward to working with him.

'There were many clubs interested in signing him, so we are very grateful to David Moyes and all those.'

Lingard's arrival should ease the burden on Leo Ulloa's shoulders a little too.

He could even make an instant Albion debut against Millwall this weekend but I think he might be eased in more from the bench with Jonathan Obika now likely to face even more of a struggle to get some games as he has already since his loan arrival from Tottenham.

I'm definitely excited by this signing and hope it can prove the spark to ignite our play off chances.
