Garcia - Proud Of Players

Head Coach Oscar Garcia has said he was proud of the efforts and the performance of the boys in last night's FA Cup game against Hull City.

Speaking to the Official Site as Albion now face a replay and two games in three days, Oscar decided to mainly focus on the positives, and those were his pride in how we dominated Hull for the vast majority of the game, and the way we played and really earned ourselves a lot of credit in the process.

'I am very proud of the performance of all my players. We played really well against Premier League opposition who are a very good team. We had our chances to win but they did as well. In the first half we were the better side and in the second half it was very even.'

Garcia goes on to say the one disappointment is that we couldn't quite get that second goal on the night, because he feels had we gone two nil up then the second half would've played out differently and as Hull struggled in all honestly to get the one goal back, he doesn't believe they would've been able to get two on the night if we'd have been lucky enough to build up that kind of margin.

Of course drawing the game, and adding an additional fixture to our list, is going to be a good test physically and mentally for the players and it couldn't have fallen at a worst time really as Oscar goes on to say that we now have a very difficult run against Premiership opposition having played Hull, and then we have Wigan in the league next, and then we are back to playing Hull.

It's going to take a lot out of the players, but he still wants us to go there and have a go again, but we have to be mindful that tiredness doesn't have an unwanted effect on our league campaign now.

As for the substitutions he made in the game, Garcia echoed Leo Ulloa's earlier words about his substitution being precautionary following the knock he took on his calf and added that his efforts on the night had left him very tired, so it was only right to give him a bit of a break, and as for Will Buckley, he was apparently ill before the game and wasn't feeling well at half time so the decision was taken to bring Solly March on.
