Jones Frustrated Following Watford Loss

Jones Frustrated Following Watford Loss

Assistant coach Nathan Jones cut a frustrated figure at full time following the game against Watford, and he wasn't alone.

An early goal for Watford after only 13 minutes but an unfair reflection on the game, because Brighton had started brightly in the game, however a second half strike giving them a two goal advantage proved too much as we simply couldn't take our chances to get ourselves back in the game and we really didn't test their keeper enough in all fairness.

Despite having a goal disallowed ourselves.

Speaking to the press following the match, Jones explained.

'We are disappointed as a group and as a team. We didn't start too badly, ironically, but we conceded goals at bad times. The first one came against the run of play and it knocked the wind out of us for a bit. We huffed and puffed without really taking the game to them. The second came at a bad time as well and to rub salt in the wound with the disallowed goal, we felt that came at a time when we might have kicked on. All round we are quite frustrated really.'

A bigger disappointment really is that we failed to build on the Burnley draw following our Derby loss, so it's three without victory now and only one point from a potential nine which will cause a bit of concern and it has seen us slip in the league, but these things happen and there are more than enough games left to make up for that slip, and that surely has to be the aim moving forward again now.

Get back to winning ways, and hopefully a few wins on the bounce and that play off gap will soon close again.

Of course we had a couple of debutants today, and they too will only improve with more training sessions with the lads, and Jones actually picked out starting debutant Dale Stephens and said he was pleased with his efforts on the day and what he did contribute to the game, as he was certainly a positive from the loss, because he will only get better as he adjusts to his new colleagues more in the coming weeks.
