Stephens Reports - Nothing Concrete

Stephens Reports - Nothing Concrete

Charlton have reacted to the reports that Brighton are interested in midfielder Dale Stephens, it was even reported that an approach had been made for the midfielder on Tuesday.

Chris Powell has been quoted in the Argus as saying that 'nothing concrete' had come in for Stephens in the way of an offer for him from Albion, or anyone else but he knows that interest is there in his sides better players.

'There's nothing concrete to reports of Dale Stephens leaving. There's always speculation over bids and this is an example of that.

'It's just how it always is. Until I am told differently, Dale remains here.

'Hopefully we can stave off bids like that if they come but I am a realist. Every player has his price but hopefully we can keep our better players here.'

Andrew Crofts season ending injury and the impending departure of Liam Bridcutt to Sunderland, remember Gus you said he was a '£5m player' so why not pay that for him, means we need someone in midfield and Oscar looks like he has targeted the energy and quality of Stephens.

Premier League clubs are being linked with Stephens too, who will see his Charlton contract expire in the summer so if we can dangle enough of a carrot in front of them they'll find it hard to refuse, it would then be a case of Stephens seeing it likewise.
