First Team Opportunity Convinced Monakana

First Team Opportunity Convinced Monakana

New signing Jeffrey Monakana said that Brighton's policy of promoting young players through to the first team was a big draw when he decided to move to us yesterday.

The 20 year old said that his hope was to replicate the progress of the likes of friend Rohan Ince, Jake Forster-Caskey and Solly March, and given how Brighton have developed and brought on those three, he feels the move to us makes all the sense in the world as he looks to make a greater impression at first team level.

Speaking to the Official Site about his transfer, Monakana explained.

'There were a lot of other League One clubs interested, but as soon as I heard Brighton wanted me I couldn't turn that down. I couldn't wait to get down here and try to prove myself at Championship level. I feel this is the best move for me.'

He goes on to say that he knows Rohan pretty well, although not Solly and Jake, but having seen them relied upon by the club and given their chance, it was a big decision maker for him because he has no doubts that if he works hard enough and impresses that he'll get his chance for us.

Obviously knowing Ince, he admitted once our interest in him was known he did pick up the phone to his mate Ince confirmed that it's not easy to begin with, but ultimately if you put the work in, the reward will come and given Monakana's style and talent, it should only be a matter of time.
