Bridcutt Hands In Transfer Request
It's being reported that following Brighton's latest rejection of a bid from Sunderland for midfielder Liam Bridcutt, the player has now handed in an official transfer request.
The club are in advanced talks with Sunderland, now managed by our former gaffer Guy Poyet, but agreement has not been made when it comes to the size of the transfer fee.
Earlier in the day media outlets were reporting that a deal could be close with an upfront £2.5million fee being paid, with clauses potentially taking the full deal up to the region of £5million, but in the last few hours news has circulated that the 24 year old has reacted to the latest knockback by handing in a transfer request.
The Daily Mail amongst others say that Brighton refused to comment on the matter tonight, so I suppose all we can hope is that this doesn't turn ugly and become too drawn out as no doubt we want to keep our focus on the league campaign and not let that get derailed by off pitch matters.
If Bridcutt has handed in a transfer request, then at least he's played his hand so we definitely know where we stand, but of course it doesn't automatically mean that a move will still go ahead.
But generally in these situations, they do seem to be sorted relatively quickly don't they.
