New head coach Oscar drawn to 'progressive' Albion

Albion this evening confirmed the appointment of Oscar Garcia as the club's new 'head coach'.

The 40-year-old, fresh from his title winning campaign with Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv, will arrive in England tomorrow to begin his new role at the Albion.

Whilst the club have not given much away on the exact details of Oscar's contract, they state that his primary duty will be to oversee the players' pre-season training - with their first friendly on July 6th.

Oscar told seagulls.co.uk, "I am delighted to have the opportunity to work in English football for the first time. Brighton & Hove Albion is one of the most exciting and progressive clubs in the country."

Chairman Tony Bloom added, "We are delighted to have Oscar here to help us prepare for the new season and plan what promises to be another exciting campaign for the club."

Meanwhile, assistant manager Mauricio Taricco has departed the club by mutual consent, following the dismissal of manager Gus Poyet.
