Oscar Garcia strong favourite to replace Poyet
Is former Barcelona player Oscar Garcia waiting in the wings to succeed the departing Gus Poyet?
The notion has gathered a great deal of pace during the past 24 hours, with the Mirror breaking the story late last night, followed by an article from Spanish media outlet Sport.es this morning which sheds further light on the Spaniard's potential appointment.
Oscar, who this summer left Israeli champions Maccabi Tel Aviv, is reported to be weighing up an offer of a two-year contract at the Amex, with Albion chairman Tony Bloom making the 40-year-old his primary target from a 4 man shortlist.
Of course, there still remains the small matter of Gus Poyet, with the suspended Uruguayan and the club currently embroiled in discussions to negotiate a parting of ways - after an initial disciplinary hearing took place yesterday.
So until a resolution is found on that front, it's difficult to see how anything concrete can be in place with regards to an incoming manager, however the potential arrival of former La Masia coach Oscar is clearly one that would rekindle the fans' enthusiasm ahead of the new season.
