Getafe and Norwich lined up for pre-season

Albion will again test themselves against top flight teams on the continent this summer, as the club announce the bulk of their pre-season schedule.

The Seagulls will undergo their final preparations ahead of the new Championship campaign as Elliott Bennett returns to the south coast with Premier League Norwich on Tuesday July 30th, 7.45pm.

Spain, or more specifically the outskirts of Madrid, is where the Seagulls will be based for their now annual training camp visit abroad, with a friendly lined up against La Liga side Getafe on Wednesday 17th July, 7.30pm (GMT).

Albion are expected to conclude their week-long visit with a second match against an unconfirmed Segunda Division team, due to take place on the following Saturday evening - 20th July.

It won't come as a surprise that a sprinkling of lower/non-league Sussex opponents have also been thrown in, with upwardly mobile Conference South outfit Whitehawk (now named Brighton City) kicking off the schedule on July 6, 3pm.

Crawley Town await Albion upon their return from the Spanish capital, with a tie arranged at Broadfield Stadium for Wednesday July 24th, kick-off 7.45pm.

The Argus are reporting that a still-to-be-confirmed glamour friendly could see the visit of high-profile European opponents on 27th - the Seagulls' penultimate pre-season fixture before they face Norwich.

So, pending further confirmation (I'd expect additional local non-league fixtures to be arranged against an Albion development XI) the pre-season programme should look something like this:

Sat 6th July - Whitehawk (A) - 3.00pm

Wed 17th July - Getafe (A) - 8.30pm (7.30pm GMT)

Sat 20th July - TBC (in Madrid) - TBC

Wed 24th July - Crawley Town (A) - 7.45pm

Sat 27th July - TBC (H) - TBC

Tue 30th July - Norwich City (H) - 7.45pm
