Adam El-Abd has warned against Albion players getting too caught up in what is likely to be a heated atmosphere at tomorrow's derby match against Crystal Palace.
The popular Seagulls stalwart, who has made over 300 appearances for the club, featured in Albion's last triumph at Selhurst Park - a 1-0 win in 2005 courtesy of a Paul McShane header.
And although the 28-year-old defender may not start tomorrow, having been dislodged in the starting XI by Lewis Dunk since picking up an injury, he is keen to issue a calming message to his teammates.
El-Abd told BBC Sussex, "It's one everybody looks for when the fixture list comes out. We all know it's going to be highly charged.
"People will need to be calm in the dressing room as it may be easy to get caught up in it and get over-excited."
He continued, "The atmosphere is going to be something special and you know it is going to be a fiercely contested game."
